My philosophy is that humans can thrive optimally in this world through consistent invitation into flexibility and flow.

Inspired by bell hooks, I have a love ethic and praxis that invites us to not only love the parts of us that we or the world deem worth loving; my invitation also includes loving the parts of us who don’t trust or believe that there is more outside of pain and suffering. I want those parts of us to know that love is an option and that they are worth loving. I create a space for others to lovingly and intentionally engage in critical assessment and reflection on their relationship with themselves and the world. My hope is to walk alongside you on your journey within so you can feel more confident, conscious, and proud to walk your journey in the world.

“ we choose to love, we choose to move against fear, against alienation and separation. the choice to love is a choice to connect, to find ourselves in the other ”

-bell hooks

It’s important to me that as I get to know you and your story, that you also have an opportunity to know a little about mine!

Hi! My name is Misty Major and my journey began in Inglewood, CA, a city in South Los Angeles. I am the second of three and I am a Cali girl through and through! When I was 18, I decided to leave LA and pursued college out of state. Not just out of state, but clear across the country. I really wanted to explore what else the world could offer, as it is enticing to stay in LA simply because it’s LA. After college, I moved to Chicago for graduate school and fell in love with the city. I navigated the complexities of the mental health field, built community, and met my husband, who was a transplant from Baltimore, MD. Even though Chicago had been so good to me for the past 12 years, we decided our season with Chicago had ended and moved to Ft Worth, TX February of 2023. One of the reasons being I have two niblings (gender neutral for niece/nephew if you didn’t know!) who live in Texas with whom I am completely in love and wanted to be an active auntie or TiTi as they call me.

We have a cat named WuTang who I am completely obsessed with. She likes to come visit my sessions from time to time.
